Dermaplaning is an effective and safe exfoliation procedure. It uses a sterile surgical scalpel to shave the surface of the skin to remove excess dead skin and fine/peach fuzz hairs. The tool is held at a 45 degree angle and is brushed along the skin to remove the hair and skin cells.
Dermaplaning can be performed as a stand-alone procedure, however it does create deeper product penetration boosting the effect of applied skin products. The procedure makes skin look and feel smoother and can reduce the appearance of acne scars.
Dermaplane facials can be enhanced by combining them with our Osmosis Facial Infusion facials, skin peels, laser genesis and/or LED light therapy.

COMMON QUESTIONS ANSWERED
Who is the treatment for?
Dermaplaning is safe for most people, with little risk of side effects when it’s performed by a certified therapist. It is ideal for removing fine vellus facial hair, as well an effective treatment to remove the top layers of your skin. The procedure aims to also reduce fine wrinkles and acne scarring, as well as make the skin’s surface look smoother.
How does it feel?
Dermaplaning is typically a pain-free, relaxing treatment. The exfoliating feels like a mild scraping or scratching sensation to the skin.
Is there downtime?
This procedure doesn’t require any downtime for recovery, which makes it a convenient treatment. Individuals may experience redness or feel like the skin has been scraped for two or three days after the procedure. Sometimes after dermaplaning, the skin will end up peeling slightly.
There is no need to worry about the hair on your face getting any darker. Since dermaplaning only targets the vellus hair (peachfuzz) the hair will grow back the same size and color. It is physiologically impossible for the hair to grow back thicker and dark, so no need to panic and worry.
When will I see a result?
Immediately. Most people notice that the skin looks brighter immediately after a dermaplaning treatment, but it often takes a few days to completely settle. Dermaplaning is usually performed every three to four weeks. It is good to have the skin complete its normal rejuvenation cycle, which is thirty days, before going back and having the treatment repeated. Results of dermaplaning aren’t permanent. The procedure clears away up to three weeks’ worth of dead skin cells and fine hairs.
