Who is the treatment for?
For individuals over the age of 18, generally 40-70 years of age. Woman and men who have begun to see the effects of ageing and are wanting to restore lost volume, improve deeper lines, wrinkles and skin laxity, improve acne scarring, and improve skin quality and luminosity.
How does it feel?
Everyone’s pain threshold is different when it comes to injections. We aim to make your treatment as comfortable as possible. We use numbing agents and distraction techniques to assist in minimising discomfort. Sculptra is mixed with an anaesthetic solution, so the area feels numb as it is injected.
Is there downtime?
Swelling and bruising can be a common side effect from a Sculptra treatment. Depending on the area treated swelling can last approximately 1-4 days, bruising can last a few days to a couple of weeks. We recommend reducing alcohol intake, caffeine, and some supplements such as fish oils 2 weeks prior to treatment to help reduce bruising. If medically safe to do so, and after discussion with your treating nurse and doctor, reduction or ceasing some medications two weeks prior to treatment, such as anti-inflammatories or blood thinners can also help reduce bruising.
When will I see a result?
Results can be seen as early as 2 months post treatment; however, best results are around 3-5 months.
Results can last around 2-3 years, however, we recommend re-treatment every 12-24 months.
On average, a series of three treatment sessions over the course of a few months may be needed. The number of injections at each session will vary, depending on the degree of correction needed and the treatment plan determined by you and your treating Nurse & Doctor.
Treatment usually takes between 40 minutes to 1 hour, depending on the area/s treated.
