PDO Threading is another method of tightening and plumping the skin. It is a type of single PDO filament made from Polydioxanone. PDO threads are inserted into the skin (dermal layer), in a mesh like pattern, to assist in promoting new collagen. The threads activate collagen synthesis which produces a gradual skin thickening, skin tightening and rejuvenation effect. The threads become a support structure that allows collagen production to increase.

Results may be seen in 6 weeks and will continue to improve over 2 to 6 months. While the threads slowly dissolve their effects may last up to 12 months. There are several different sizes and types of PDO threads available, depending on the area of treatment. The number of threads inserted will depend on individual factors and area of treatment.

TREATMENT AREAS FOR PDO MONO THREADING

COMMON QUESTIONS ANSWERED

Who is the treatment for?

Anyone looking to improve the overall quality of their skin and to improve firmness of the skin.

Suitable for individuals also not wanting cosmetic medicine treatments such as anti-wrinkle or revolumiser treatments.

How does it feel?

Everyone’s pain threshold is different when it comes to treatments. We aim to make your treatment as comfortable as possible. We use numbing agents and distraction techniques to assist in minimising discomfort. You may experience a firm feeling and some tenderness in the area that has been treated for a few days after the procedure.

Is there downtime?

Insertion of PDO threads commonly result in swelling and bruising in the area that has been treated. This will subside over a few days, up to 2 two weeks after treatment.

We recommend reducing alcohol intake, caffeine, and some supplements such as fish oils 2 weeks prior to treatment to help reduce bruising. If medically safe to do so, and after discussion with your treating nurse and doctor, reduction or ceasing some medications two weeks prior to treatment, such as anti-inflammatories or blood thinners can also help reduce bruising.

When will I see a result?

You will begin to see results within 6 weeks of your treatment. These results will continue to improve over the next 2-6 months as collagen is produced. A follow up treatment at 12 weeks may be required.

PDO threading can help to create new collagen that supports your face and creates a tightening effect that last 6 to 12 months after your treatment. The results vary depending on lifestyle factors such as smoking, alcohol and exercise. PDO threads can be maintained at 3-6 months after treatment for ongoing tightening effects.
