Lipodissolve dissolves unwated fat through a series of small injections into the superficial fat layer of specifically targeted areas that are resistant to diet and/or exercise. The injections contain phosphatidylcholine and deoxycholate (PCDC), a liquid lecithin product produced from soy beans, which break down fat cells in the desired area. These chemicals are naturally occurring and generally contained in the gallbladder, where they help with fat digestion. This substance causes the fat cell wall to dissolve, the fat is then eliminated by the body’s metabolic process (through the kidneys, liver and bowels). By reducing the number of fat cells in the area, the amount of fat stored in the area is reduced.
Many people think Lipodissolve is too good to be true, so let’s look at some myths:
Myth #1 – Anyone is a good candidate.
Lipodissolve is not right for everyone. It’s suitable for people who are looking to eliminate small deposits of fat, not for ‘weight loss’ but rather a treatment for body sculpting or contouring. Lipodissolve cannot be used for large scale fat reduction and is not a fix for those who are obese. Lipodissolve is designed, and best used for, specific areas of stubborn fat that cannot be targeted with weight loss and/or diet. Many people have a healthy lifestyle and exercise regularly but have soft fat in areas that are impossible to target. Pregnant or breastfeeding women are also not eligible for Lipodissolve.
Myth #2 – Results are immediate.
Lipodissolve takes its time for results to become apparent. There is no noticeable change to body fat content or shape after just one treatment. It generally takes three to six treatments (depending on a number of factors) to achieve optimal results. Because there is some downtime post-treatment, including swelling, you are not able to see visible results after each treatment.
Myth #3 – LipoDissolve is permanent.
This is a yes and no answer. Whilst Lipodissolve destroys the fat cells, that doesn’t mean you won’t produce new or expand existing fat cells in the same area. Once Lipodissolve breaks down the fat and your body excretes it, those particular cells will not come back. However, this is a process that reduces fat over time and it requires you to still consume a healthy diet with a lot of fluids and maintain an exercise routine. If you adopt an unhealthy lifestyle, it may lead to a re-deposition of fat and defeat the purpose of the work that had been carried out in earlier sessions.
Myth #4 – No recovery time is required.
Whilst you are able to undertake some normal activities within a couple of days (apart from vigorous exercise), it’s recommended that you should refrain from partaking in social events. Most patients experience visible swelling that can last for up to 10 days, though severity varies between patients. Any redness post-treatment will subside after a few hours, and those few patients who experience bruising can cover them with make-up if required.
